Torrey Records Career High at Utah

SALT LAKE CITY – Rylie Torrey scored a career high 25 points as the ORU women's basketball team fell 78-58 at Utah Thursday evening in Salt Lake City, Utah.

ORU started the game strong going back and forth with the Utes having the lead twice in the first quarter. Rylie Torrey got things going for ORU with eight points in the first six minutes of play and 10 for the quarter. Utah went 6-for-6 from the three-point line to take a 26-15 lead after the first quarter. The Utes closed out the quarter on an 8-0 run.

Utah extended its run in the second to 12-0 before Torrey broke the run with her third three-point bucket of the game. However, Utah went on an 11-0 run until Torrey broke another run with a long-range shot. Utah shot 9-for-12 from three-point range in the first half and took a 45-23 lead in to halftime. Torrey led ORU with 18 points.

Macy Gore scored on the opening possession for ORU to cut the Utah lead to 19. ORU cut the deficit to 16 before Utah extended it to 23. Torrey surpassed her previous career high when she scored her 23rd point of the game in the third. The Golden Eagles cut the deficit to 60-42 to end the third period. ORU out-scored the Utes in the third, 19-15.

After a pair of Torrey free throws, Sarah Garvie scored on a fast break layup to cut the deficit to 17 before ORU called a timeout with 4:27 to play. The Golden Eagles cut it as close as 16 points in the final period. However, the Utes made it a 20 point game and the game ended with a 78-58 final score. Montserrat Brotons recorded a career high five blocks and Katie Kirkhart had a career high seven rebounds.

Oral Roberts: Rylie Torrey scored 25 points. Montserrat Brotons and Katie Kirkhart each grabbed seven rebounds.

Utah: Julie Brosseau scored 14 points and two players had seven rebounds each.

- ORU shot 26.8 percent overall in tonight's game.

- ORU got out-rebounded by Utah, 48-47.

- The Golden Eagles had a 26.7 percent three-point average.
