Golden Eagles Win on Senior Day, 96-59

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team closed out the 2019-20 regular season with a 96-59 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday afternoon on senior day at the Mabee Center.

To being the game, Head Coach Misti Cussen honored the five seniors by starting all five. ORU started the day with solid defense that kept Purdue Fort Wayne scoreless for the first 6:15. During that stretch, the Golden Eagles went on a 10-0 run. The Mastodons cut the deficit to seven before trailing 18-10 at the end of the first. The Golden Eagles shot 50 percent from the field and were led by Keni Jo Lippe.

In the second, Purdue Fort Wayne cut it to a five-point game with 7:50 to go. Down the stretch, ORU went on an 18-3 run to go up by as much 23. The Golden Eagles went in to the locker room with a 46-25 advantage after shooting 73 percent from the field. ORU out-score PFW, 28-15, in the quarter and senior Jentry Holt scored nine. Holt finished the first half with 15 as the Golden Eagles shot 60 percent in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Golden Eagles went up by 30 in the third with 3:04 to play and out-scoring the Mastodons, 25-19. ORU kept shooting well for 47 percent from the field and then 56 percent in the fourth. The Golden Eagles largest lead of the day came in the fourth by 41 with 4:54 to go. Overall, ORU finished with a 96-59 advantage and closed out the day shooting 55 percent from the field. Five Golden Eagles scored in double-figures as the team had its largest win of the season in Summit League play.

ORU closed out the game with a special senior day recognition for this year's five seniors, Montserrat Brotons, Sarah Garvie, Jentry Holt, Rachel Skalnik and Rylie Torrey.

THE LEADERS

Oral Roberts: Holt led the team with 19 points, while Lippe had nine rebounds.

Purdue Fort Wayne: Anna Lappenkuper scored 18 and Hannah Albrecht grabbed four rebounds.                                                                                                                                                  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- ORU shot 54.8 percent overall in tonight's game.

- ORU out-rebounded PFW, 49-23.

- The Golden Eagles had a 40 percent three-point average.

- ORU turned the ball over 12 times, but forced the Mastodons to turn the ball over 16 times.

- Sarah Garvie recorded 13 points with four rebounds.

- Gem Summers scored 10 with three rebounds and one assist.

- Montserrat Brotons captured 14 points along with four steals.

- Keni Jo Lippe finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

- Jentry Holt scored an ORU career high 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

- ORU had 39 bench points in tonight's game and 52 points in the paint.

- Golden Eagles capitalized with 19 points off of turnovers.
