Scouting the Opponent
• The Golden Eagles are 6-10 against the Pioneers in program history, but have never won a game at Denver dropping all seven prior meetings in the Mile High City.
• Denver had its bye last week after getting swept during the opening weekend of league play at South Dakota. The road losses extended the Pioneers winless streak to eight games as they have not won since the season opener against Regis Nov. 28.
• DU is led offensively by Jase Townsend's 17.4 ppg as the Preseason All-Summit League Second Team guard has scored in double figures in seven of nine outings. The Pioneers rank 25th in the NCAA converting 77 percent of free throws, but are 294th in the nation allowing 77.6 ppg.

• ORU bounced back from its first Summit League loss Friday to North Dakota, a one-point loss, to dominate game two and even the weekend winning Saturday, 74-57.
Kevin Obanor led the Golden Eagles with a pair of double-doubles averaging 17.5 ppg and 14.0 rpg, while
Max Abmas (17.0),
RJ Glasper (12.5) and
DeShang Weaver (11.0) also scored in double figures for the week.
• The Golden Eagles are second in the NCAA hitting 12.2 3-pointers per contest, led by Abmas, who sits seventh in the nation individually making 40 total triples. ORU has five players in the top 10 of the conference in made 3-pointers hitting at least 18 from distance.
• ORU finished the 2020 calendar year with a 10-1 record at home inside the Mabee Center and had the toughest non-conference schedule in the nation this season according to KenPom.
• Obanor secured two career milestones over the weekend recording his 500th rebound Friday becoming the 28th player in program history to reach the feat. He followed that by scoring his 1,000th point Saturday as the 36th ORU player all-time to hit the century mark. He ranks seventh in the country totaling five double-double performances, including three straight.
• ORU was picked to finish second in The Summit League Preseason Poll behind only defending regular season co-champion South Dakota State.
• The Golden Eagles have eight new faces for 2020-21 with two grad transfers (
RJ Glasper,
Justin Lovvorn), two junior college transfers (
Sheldon Stevens,
Kareem Thompson) and four freshmen (
Jonathan Alexandre,
Jamie Bergens,
Nate Clover III,
Ismael Plet).
