BATON ROUGE, La. – The Oral Roberts baseball team's bats were silenced by No. 8 LSU on Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Tigers blanked the Golden Eagles, forcing a series rubber match on Sunday afternoon.
Joshua Cox got the game started when he took a head first slide into first base to beat the throw for an infield single. Cox was thrown out on a close play at third base following a
Jake McMurray single to kill the ORU scoring opportunity.
LSU got a run in the second inning before tagging ORU for seven runs in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth inning.
AJ Archambo and
Colten Weber tallied 3.2 innings of work out of the bullpen for the Golden Eagles. In 2.1 innings, Weber fanned four Tigers and allowed just one unearned run.
ORU had several scoring opportunities diminished by the Tigers before LSU's bullpen shut down the offense entirely. In the last three innings of the ballgame, the Golden Eagles mustered just one base runner.
