TULSA, Okla. Max Abmas grabbed a career high 11 rebounds to go along with his 24 points for his first double-double of the season in the Oral Roberts men's basketball team's 98-86 win over Oklahoma Baptist Saturday evening at the Mabee Center.

On a night in front of 4,300-plus fans, four Golden Eagles scored in double-digits. It was the fourth game this season ORU had four or more score in double-figures. As for Abmas, it was his third career double-double as the senior scored a season high 24 points to go along with his career high 11 rebounds. Issac McBride had his first 20-point game of the season with a season high 21 points. DeShang Weaver came off the bench to score 13 and newcomer Connor Vanover added 12. Carlos Jurgens also contributed with a career high 10 assists.

ORU never trailed in the game as the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 15 point lead going on a 15-2 run in the first five minutes. Throughout the first half, ORU kept Oklahoma Baptist at arms-length leading by as much as 19. The Golden Eagles shot an impressive 61.8 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes and went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw to lead, 57-41, at the break. Abmas, McBride and Weaver all scored double-digits in the opening half as Weaver went a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 2-for-2 from three-point range.

Oklahoma Baptist clawed back in the second half going on a 13-2 to cut the ORU lead to five with 11:06 left on the clock. Back-to-back three-point shots by Weaver and Jurgens put Oral Roberts back on top by 11. With 5:05 to play, Jurgens stole the ball and sent it forward to Kareem Thompson for a layup to give ORU an 18 point advantage. Abmas then poked the ball free from OBU again and scored to give ORU its largest lead of the game, 20, with minutes to go. The Bison closed out the game on a 12-4 run, but ORU kept its double-digit lead to win 98-86.

Overall, the Golden Eagles had their best shooting game of the season going 37-for-75 from the field for 49.3 percent. As a team, ORU had 21 assists on 37 made baskets and went 12-for-12 from the free-throw line. From the three-point line, ORU connected 12 times and went 38.7 percent from long range. Extending from last season, ORU has now made 10-plus three-point buckets in 12 of its last 16 games.

Individual Leaders
Oral Roberts: Abmas led with 24 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season and third of his career.

Oklahoma Baptist: D.J Freeman had 18 points and six rebounds.

- For the fourth game this season ORU had four or more players score in double-digits.
 
- Jurgens captured a career high 10 assists.
