#ORUBase Opens 11-Game Homestand with Three-Game Set Against Dallas Baptist

TULSA, Okla. – Riding a three-game win streak, the Oral Roberts baseball team returns home to the friendly confines of J.L. Johnson Stadium to open an 11-game homestand starting with a three-game set against Dallas Baptist March 18-20. Friday's series opener is slated for 6 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. start Saturday and a 1 p.m. first pitch Sunday.

Fans may visit www.mabeecenter.com to purchase tickets. For Sunday's contest, fans can present their church bulletin and receive free admission into the contest.

Inside the Series
• Friday's series opener marks the 56th meeting all-time between the Golden Eagles and Patriots. The three-game set will be the first meeting between the two squads in Tulsa, Oklahoma, since March 10, 2019.

• ORU took two of three from the Patriots on the road last season but trail the all-time series 21-34. At home, ORU is 11-19 against Dallas Baptist.

• Head Coach Ryan Folmar is 6-23 in his career against the Patriots.

Quick Hits     
• The Golden Eagles capped off their six-game road trip with midweek wins over Central Arkansas, 7-5, and Little Rock, 18-3. ORU finished with a 3-3 record during the road swing and are now 4-3 in away games this season.

• Freshman pitching led the way in the win over the Bears as Brooks Fowler earned his first career start, while Jakob Hall picked up his first career win in relief. Offensively, all nine batters in the lineup reached base safely and Alec Jones drove in a team-high two runs.

• On Wednesday, AJ Archambo and Caleb Denny carried the load for ORU as the two combined to drive in 11 runs in the 18-3 route of Little Rock. Archambo broke the game open with a grand slam in the first, marking the first home run of his career. The senior later added a two-run shot to finish the day with a career-best six RBIs. Denny blasted his second grand slam of the season in the sixth and ended the contest with five RBIs.

• Reed Ronan picked up his first career win in relief, working two innings with two strikeouts. Foster Roy pitched a scoreless frame in relief to go along with a strikeout.

• On the mound, the Golden Eagles will throw RHP Isaac Coffey (Friday), LHP Ledgend Smith (Saturday) and RHP AJ Archambo (Sunday) in the weekend series.

• In the Summit League, ORU's offense ranks first in batting average (.310), runs (140), hits (181), doubles (34), triples (9), home runs (15), RBIs (134), slugging percentage (.477) and on-base percentage (.417). On the mound, the Golden Eagles lead the conference in innings pitched (143.0) and strikeouts (152).

• Holden Breeze leads the Summit League in batting average (.418), while Mac McCroskey tops the conference in hits (26). Denny ranks first in the league in RBIs with 21 and Jackson Loftin is tied for the league lead in homers with four. Justin Quinn holds the league lead in triples with three and ranks fifth nationally.  
 
• Nationally, ORU enters the weekend ranked sixth th in triples, 12th in triples per game (0.53) and 27th in batting average.

• At home this season, ORU owns an 8-0 record.

• ORU was selected as the unanimous favorite to retain their regular-season crown in the 2022 Summit League Preseason Coaches' poll, garnering 36 points and all six of the possible first-place votes they could attain.

• Coffey earned plenty of preseason accolades as the junior was selected as the Summit League Preseason Pitcher of the Year by both D1 Baseball and Perfect Game USA. The Goleta, California, native also garnered Preseason All-American honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Collegiate Baseball. Joshua Cox was selected as the Summit League Player of the Year by both D1 Baseball and Perfect Game USA. Brooks Fowler garnered Preseason Summit League Freshman of the Year honors from D1 Baseball.

Scouting the Opponent
• Dallas Baptist enters the weekend winners of three of their last four contests despite dropping Wednesday's midweek at Oklahoma State, 5-4. On the road this season, the Patriots are 2-4.

• On the mound, the Patriots will throw RHP Jacob Meador (Friday), RHP Luke Eldred (Saturday) and RHP Ryan Johnson (Sunday).

• The Patriots are led by NCBWA Preseason All-American Jace Grady. Through 16 games this season, Grady owns a .259 batting average to go along with three home runs and seven RBIs. The sophomore was also named to the Bobby Bragan Award Watch List.

• In the 2022 Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Coaches' poll, Dallas Baptist was selected as the unanimous favorite to retain their crown. Andrew Benefield, Peyton Sherlin, Eldred and Grady were all selected to the 2022 MVC Preseason All-Conference Team.
