• Friday's matchup marks the 84th meeting all-time between the Golden Eagles and Jackrabbits. ORU took eight of the 10 matchups last season between the two sides, including a four-game sweep in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
• ORU holds a 64-19 edge all-time in the series history, including a 40-8 mark at J.L. Johnson Stadium.Â

• ORU dropped their midweek contest to in-state foe No. 9 Oklahoma State, 9-4, Wednesday night at J.L. Johnson Stadium. The loss marked the fourth straight for the Golden Eagles, who are now 8-4 on their home turf this season.
• The Golden Eagles are in the midst of an 11-game homestand that runs through April 3.
• In the Summit League, ORU's offense ranks first in batting average (.288), runs (153), hits (205), doubles (40), triples (9), RBIs (147), slugging percentage (.440) and on-base percentage (.393). On the mound, the Golden Eagles lead the conference in innings pitched (179.0) and strikeouts (185).

Mac McCroskey continues to lead the Summit League in hits with 28, while

• ORU was selected as the unanimous favorite to retain their regular-season crown in the 2022 Summit League Preseason Coaches' poll, garnering 36 points and all six of the possible first-place votes they could attain.
• Coffey earned plenty of preseason accolades as the junior was selected as the Summit League Preseason Pitcher of the Year by both D1 Baseball and Perfect Game USA. The Goleta, California, native also garnered Preseason All-American honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Collegiate Baseball.Â
Joshua Cox was selected as the Summit League Player of the Year by both D1 Baseball and Perfect Game USA.Â
Brooks Fowler garnered Preseason Summit League Freshman of the Year honors from D1 Baseball.
Scouting the Opponent
• South Dakota State enters the weekend series 4-6 in their last 10 contests after they split a four-game set at Northwestern State last weekend. The Jackrabbits midweek contest at Nebraska was canceled due to weather.Â
• Offensively, South Dakota State is led by Derek Hackman, who leads the team in average (.357) and RBIs (14).
• On the mound, the Jackrabbits will throw RHP Nic McCay Friday, LHP Cody Carlson Saturday and RHP Owen Bishop in the series finale Sunday.
• In the 2022 Summit League Preseason Coaches' poll, South Dakota State was selected to finish fourth. The Jackrabbits are led by Head Coach Rob Bishop in his sixth season.
