WICHITA, Kan. – The Oral Roberts baseball team saw their eight-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday afternoon as they fell on the road to Wichita State, 6-4, in midweek action.
The Shockers plated four runs on five hits in the second inning to take the early lead, which they never relinquished.
Alec Jones got a run back for the Golden Eagles in the fourth as the redshirt sophomore drove home
Caleb Denny on an RBI single to right.
A solo home run in the fifth and an RBI single in the sixth extended the Wichita State advantage to 6-1.
ORU scratched across three runs in the seventh to trim the deficit to two, 6-4. Following a
Mac McCroskey hit by pitch and a
Dustin Demeter single,
Jake McMurray ripped an RBI double down the left-field line to score McCroskey. Denny plated Demeter with a sacrifice fly and
Holden Breeze brought around McMurray on an RBI double down the left-field line.
In the ninth, McCroskey led off the inning with a double to bring the tying run to the plate but that was all the ORU offense could muster. Back-to-back-to-back strikeouts ended the contest as the Shockers went on to win 6-4.
