TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts men's basketball head coach
Paul Mills announced the signing of Connor Vanover for the 2022-23 season.
A 7-3 forward, Vanover joined the Oral Roberts team as a transfer from the University of Arkansas. With a stop at Cal before joining the Razorbacks, Vanover started in 15 of his 28 games played as a freshman with an average of 7.5 points per game. In his sophomore season at Arkansas, he played in 29 games making 27 starts and shot 45 percent from the field that season while scoring 184 points. As an incoming senior, he's played a total of 72 games and made 52 starts in his career. He's tallied 452 career points and shoots 45.7 percent from the field and 31.9 percent from the three-point line. Vanover also has an 81 percent free-throw average. He was rated the 44
th-best "Sit-Out" Transfer in the Nation by ESPN for the 2020-21 season.
"I've watched Connor since he was 14 years old and have always been impressed by his development through the years," Head Coach
Paul Mills said. "He has played basketball with several of our players on our roster so our guys were familiar with him. He is committed to being a high level player and I'm glad we get to be a part of his growth. Connor's impact will be felt immediately on both ends of the court. He is at ORU to add his experience and unique skills as we compete in the upcoming season."
During his high school career, he played at Arkansas Baptist Prep and Findlay (Nev.) Prep. At Findlay, he averaged 8.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. While at Arkansas Baptist, he totaled an 82-21 three-year record with back-to-back- Arkansas Class 4A state titles. He recorded more than 1,000 points and 700 rebounds. He was a three-time Arkansas 4A all-state selection and was a member of Team USA's U16 and U17 teams and earned the gold medal in the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship in Argentina.
A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, he is the son of Chris and Robyn Vanover. His mother, Robyn and brother, Brandon, both played basketball at the University of Arkansas. He chose to come to ORU because he believes it is a great university and believes in Coach Mills and the team. He is expected to major in Sports Management. His favorite pro athlete is Michael Jordan.
