Coffey Selected by Red Sox in MLB Draft

TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts righthander Isaac Coffey has been selected by the Boston Red Sox as the 309th pick in the 10th round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Monday afternoon.
 
With the selection, Coffey becomes the 45th Golden Eagle taken in the first 10 rounds of the MLB Draft and the 139th draft pick in program history.

The Goleta, California, native earned All-Summit League First Team honors for a third consecutive season after registering a 4-2 record and a 1.90 ERA in conference play. Overall, the junior recorded a 3.77 ERA to go along with a 7-6 record and 78 strikeouts in 15 starts. Coffey also logged seven quality starts and tossed two complete-game shutouts.

In his three seasons at ORU, Coffey has compiled a 3.39 ERA to go along with a 19-10 record and 229 strikeouts in 44 starts, which ranks ninth all-time in program history. The righthander also ranks seventh all-time in program history with five complete-game shutouts. In his Golden Eagle career, Coffey has earned Summit League Pitcher of the Year honors (2021) and was named a Freshman All-American in 2019 by Collegiate Baseball, the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association, Baseball America, D1 Baseball and Perfect Game.

Coffey is the fifth Golden Eagle to be selected by the Boston Red Sox and the first since Dane Towery in 2005.
