MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Oral Roberts baseball team saw its five-game win streak come to an end Saturday afternoon as they fell to Memphis, 7-5, at FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the second with an RBI single through the left side. On the play, Blaze Brothers nailed the trailing runner at the plate with a strong throw from left to keep the deficit at 1-0.
 
In the third, the Tigers extended their lead with an RBI single to left center by Anthony Baskin. On the play, a perfect throw from Jonah Cox to Drew Stahl nailed Baskin at second as he was trying to extend it to a double.
 
Holden Breeze got a run back for the Golden Eagles in the fifth as the redshirt junior launched his third homer of the season down the right-field line, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
 
An inning later, Memphis' lead grew to 4-1 behind a pair of solo home runs.
 
Following a leadoff single from Matt Hogan in the seventh, Stahl launched a two-run blast to left to cut the deficit to 4-3. For Stahl, the long ball was the junior's fifth of the season. The Tigers answered in the bottom half of the frame with a bases-loaded walk followed by a two-run single to extend their advantage to 7-3.
 
The Golden Eagles continued to fight back as they plated a pair of runs in the eighth to draw within 7-5. Mac McCroskey recorded a sacrifice fly in the inning and Cox crossed the plate on a wild pitch. 

In the ninth, ORU went down in order as Memphis evened the series.

Despite striking out six, Harley Gollert suffered his first loss of the season after allowing four runs in 5.1 innings of work. In relief, Dalton Patten, Caleb Isaacs and Jacob Widener all made appearances. 

Inside the Box Score
- Hogan drew a game-high two walks.
- As a staff, the Golden Eagles totaled nine strikeouts.
- ORU struck out 13 times on the afternoon.
 
Notes
- Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles still lead the all-time series, 3-2.
- Blaze Brothers extended his on-base streak to 16 games.
- Breeze has now reached base in 11 straight games.
- Cox has now recorded a hit in 23 of the 24 games this season.
