TULSA, Okla. – Riding a four-game win streak, the Oral Roberts baseball team returns home to J.L. Johnson Stadium for a three-game set against Summit League foe Northern Colorado starting Friday at 6 p.m. Game two is slated for Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Inside the Series
• Friday's series opener marks the 11th meeting all-time between ORU and Northern Colorado.

• The Golden Eagles swept last season's meeting against the Bears and leads the all-time series, 10-0.

• The weekend set marks the first meeting between the two clubs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, since 1981. ORU is 7-0 all-time against the Bears at J.L. Johnson Stadium.

• The Golden Eagles enter the weekend as one of the hottest teams in the country with wins in 14 of their last 16 contests, including four straight. ORU is also one of only four teams in the nation still undefeated in conference play.

• In midweek action Tuesday, the Golden Eagles picked up its first win over a ranked opponent this season as they rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat No. 14 Oklahoma State, 8-5, on the road. With the win, ORU has now won 11 of the last 14 contests against the Cowboys.

• Drew Stahl blasted a game-tying three-run homer in the eighth and Jake McMurray later put the Golden Eagles back in front for good with a two-run single in the win. On the mound, reliever Caleb Isaacs notched his second consecutive victory and closer Cade Denton recorded his third save in the last four contests.

• On Monday, shortstop Mac McCroskey was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Performer of the Week. The weekly honor was the redshirt senior's second of the season.

• The Golden Eagles will send the trio of RHP Jakob Hall, LHP Harley Gollert and RHP Brooks Fowler to the mound this weekend. Among active players, Gollert ranks fourth in career strikeouts with 257. 

• Entering the weekend, the Golden Eagle offense leads the Summit League in batting average (.310), runs (258), hits (371), home runs (52), RBI (235), slugging percentage (.515), stolen bases (58) and total bases (617). On the mound, ORU tops the conference in ERA (4.45), batting average against (.250), WHIP (1.34), saves (13), innings pitched (299.0), hits allowed per nine innings (8.2), strikeouts-to-walk ratio (2.5) and strikeouts (310). Defensively, the Golden Eagles top the League in putouts (897), assists (328), double plays (30) and fielding percentage (.986).

• Nationally, ORU ranks first in fielding percentage, sixth in hits, 12th in double plays, 25th in batting average, 27th in WL percentage and 31st in stolen bases.

• Matt Hogan continues to lead the League in homers (13), RBI (47) and sacrifice flies (5). Nationally, the redshirt senior ranks 10th in RBI, 15th in homers and 12th in sac flies.

• Jonah Cox enters the weekend as the nation's hits leader with 63 on the season. The junior also sits third in hits per game (1.9), sixth in triples (5), 10th in batting average (.444) and 28th in total bases (93).

• On the mound, Joshua Caravalho leads the League in ERA (3.41) and is tied atop the leaderboard in wins (5) with Isaacs.

• The Golden Eagles are coming off their 20th Summit League Tournament Championship and 29th NCAA Regional appearance after finishing with a 38-20 record in 2022. ORU returned 15 players from last year's NCAA Regional squad and welcomed 17 newcomers in the offseason.

• After an electric 2022 season out of the bullpen, Denton received Preseason First Team All-American honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) and was tabbed the Preseason Summit League Pitcher of the Year by D1 Baseball and Perfect Game USA. The Rowlett, Texas, native was also named to the Preseason Watch List for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball. Through 15 appearances this season, Denton has recorded a 1.14 ERA and eight saves, which ranks third nationally.

• Among active players in Division I, Denton ranks first in career ERA with a 1.66 mark.

• In the 2023 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll, ORU was selected as the unanimous favorite to claim the regular season crown. The Golden Eagles received 42 points and earned all six first-place votes they could. McCroskey and Denton were named the Preseason Player and Pitcher to Watch for ORU as voted on by the league's seven head coaches. Senior Jake McMurray and Denton garnered Preseason All-Summit League honors from Perfect Game USA.

• Entering the 2023 season, ORU ranks sixth all-time in NCAA history with a .652 winning percentage. 

• Since 2001, ORU has made 17 NCAA Regional appearances, which rank as the most among Oklahoma schools.

• Head Coach Ryan Folmar enters his 11th season at the helm of the Golden Eagles and has compiled a 343-220 (.609) overall record.  

Scouting the Opponent
• Northern Colorado enters the weekend on a two-game losing streak after dropping its midweek to the Colorado School of Mines, 9-8, on Tuesday.

• Caden Wagner paces the Bears' offense as the junior holds a .299 average to go along with five homers and 24 RBI.

• Northern Colorado will throw RHP Dylan Smith on Friday and LHP Trey Cruz on Saturday. Sunday's starter is TBA.
