TULSA, Okla. – Riding a five-game win streak, the Oral Roberts baseball team welcomes in-state foe Oklahoma to J.L. Johnson Stadium for a midweek contest on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Inside the Series
• Tuesday's contest marks the 82nd all-time between the Golden Eagles and Sooners.

• Despite winning three of the last five meetings, ORU trails the all-time series, 37-44.

• In the two clubs' last meeting at J.L. Johnson Stadium a season ago, the Golden Eagles recorded a 5-1 victory.

• In home contests against the Sooners, ORU is 19-14 all-time.

• The Golden Eagles have won 10 of their last 11 contests, including five straight entering Tuesday night. At J.L. Johnson, ORU has recorded eight straight victories.

• Over the weekend, the Golden Eagles picked up their third sweep of the season and are now one of only seven teams in the nation that are still undefeated in conference play.

• Outfielder Matt Hogan led the charge offensively in the series as the redshirt senior launched two home runs and plated seven RBI en route to earning TicketSmarter Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors. For the season, the Melville, New York, native leads the League in homers (10), RBI (42) and sacrifice flies (5). Nationally the senior ranks fifth in sac flies, 11th in RBI and 33rd in homers.

• Fellow outfielder Jonah Cox also swung a hot bat over the weekend as the junior hit .556 with a homer, two doubles, three RBI and five stolen bases. On the year, Cox sits second nationally in hits (52), third in triples (5), 10th in hits per game (1.8) and 16th in batting average (.441).

• Entering Tuesday's contest, closer Cade Denton ranks first among all active players in ERA (1.76), while Harley Gollert sits fifth in strikeouts (253).

• RHP Evan Kowalski will make his second start of the season in Tuesday's midweek. On the year, Kowalski holds a 1-0 record and a 4.32 ERA.

• Entering the weekend, the Golden Eagle offense leads the Summit League in batting average (.312), runs (219), hits (316), home runs (40), triples (10), RBI (199), on-base percentage (.397), slugging percentage (.505), stolen bases (51), total bases (511) and walks (128). On the mound, ORU tops the conference in ERA (4.00), batting average against (.236), WHIP (1.28), saves (10), innings pitched (254.0), hits allowed per nine innings (7.7), strikeouts-to-walk ratio (2.4) and strikeouts (262). Defensively, the Golden Eagles top the League in putouts (762), assists (280), double plays (28) and fielding percentage (.986).

• Nationally, ORU ranks third in fielding percentage, sixth in double plays, ninth in hits, 20th in WHIP, 21st in hits allowed per nine innings, 25th in stolen bases, 26th in triples and 27th in ERA.

• On the mound, Joshua Caravalho leads the League in ERA (3.26) and is tied atop the conference in wins (4) with Gollert. At the national level, RHP Jakob Hall sits ninth in walks allowed per nine innings.

• The Golden Eagles are coming off their 20th Summit League Tournament Championship and 29th NCAA Regional appearance after finishing with a 38-20 record in 2022. ORU returns 15 players from last year's NCAA Regional squad and welcomed 17 newcomers in the offseason.

• After an electric 2022 season out of the bullpen, Denton received Preseason First Team All-American honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) and was tabbed the Preseason Summit League Pitcher of the Year by D1 Baseball and Perfect Game USA. The Rowlett, Texas, native was also named to the Preseason Watch List for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball. Through 13 appearances this season, Denton has recorded a 1.38 ERA and five saves, which ranks 25th nationally.

• In the 2023 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll, ORU was selected as the unanimous favorite to claim the regular season crown. The Golden Eagles received 42 points and earned all six first-place votes they could. Redshirt senior Mac McCroskey and Denton were named the Preseason Player and Pitcher to Watch for ORU as voted on by the league's seven head coaches. Senior Jake McMurray and Denton garnered Preseason All-Summit League honors from Perfect Game USA.

• Entering the 2023 season, ORU ranks sixth all-time in NCAA history with a .652 winning percentage. 

• Since 2001, ORU has made 17 NCAA Regional appearances, which rank as the most among Oklahoma schools.

• Head Coach Ryan Folmar enters his 11th season at the helm of the Golden Eagles and has compiled a 339-219 (.607) overall record.  

Scouting the Opponent
• Oklahoma enters the midweek with a 15-14 mark after splitting a four-game set over the weekend against No. 7 Stanford.

• Anthony Mackenzie and Easton Carmichael lead the offensive attack for OU as the two have combined for seven homers and 52 RBI. 

• The Sooners are coming off a National Runner-Up finish a season ago and were picked fifth in the Big 12 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
