TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts center fielder Jonah Cox has been drafted by the Oakland Athletics as the 166th pick in the sixth round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Monday.

With the selection, Cox becomes the 46th Golden Eagle taken in the first 10 rounds of the MLB Draft and the 141st draft pick in program history.

In his lone season with the Golden Eagles, Cox was named a consensus First Team All-American after leading the nation in hits with 114, which also set a new program and Summit League record. The 2023 Summit League Player and Newcomer of the Year, who registered a hit in 64 of the 66 games, led the Golden Eagles with a .412 average to go along with 11 homers, 16 doubles, eight triples, 68 RBI and 28 stolen bases. Cox also compiled a 47-game hit streak during the season, which ranks as the third longest in NCAA history.

Cox is the eighth Golden Eagle to be drafted by the A's and the first since Xavier Altamirano in 2015.
