#ORUTrack Shines in Season Opener at Bob Timmons Challenge

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Oral Roberts indoor track and field team kicked off the 2024-25 season with a strong performance at the Bob Timmons Challenge, highlighted by standout individual efforts and multiple top-three finishes across the board.

Kiddy Dominates 3000m
Zoie Kiddy stole the show on the track, claiming victory in the women's 3000m with an impressive time of 10:14.63. Her performance not only earned her the top spot but also vaulted her to fourth all-time in program history for the event. Kiddy also showcased her versatility with a runner-up finish in the women's mile, clocking 5:16.59. Teammate Ossly Murambidzi joined her on the podium, finishing third with a time of 5:21.08.

Magake Leads Men's Distance Crew
Artwell Magake led the men's distance squad with a pair of runner-up finishes in the 3000m and mile, clocking times of 8:31.23 and 4:15.59, respectively. Andrew Smithwick joined Magake on the podium in the mile, finishing third with a time of 4:19.10.

Burk Breaks Through in 60m Hurdles
Freshman Elijah Burk made a splash in his Golden Eagle debut, placing third in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.78. His performance ranks ninth in program history, setting the stage for an exciting season.

Granderson, Mazzei, and Marvine Star in Middle-Distance Events
Summit League Athlete to Watch Olivia Granderson impressed in the women's 400m, earning a third-place finish with a time of 57.12. In the women's 800m, Deborah Mazzei claimed another third-place finish for ORU, clocking 2:18.
The men's 800m was a Golden Eagle showcase, with Jonah Marvine (1:59) and Jaxson Brooks (1:59) finishing second and third, respectively, as both broke the two-minute barrier.

Field Event Success
The Golden Eagles excelled in the field events, led by Jordan Wenger's second-place finish in the men's high jump. His leap of 2.00m not only secured him a podium spot but also moved him to third all-time in ORU history. Teammate Kellen Rutledge joined him on the podium, finishing third.
In the women's high jump, Destiny Downing tied for second in program history with a 1.68m leap, good for third place in the event. Downing now shares her spot in the record books with Shalom Olotu (2022).

The Golden Eagles will return to action on January 11, 2025, at the Alexis Jarrett Invite in Missouri as they continue their indoor campaign.
