Tulsa, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team returns home after two games in St. Paul, Minnesota as they host BYU for a mid-week clash at Chapman Park.

 The Golden Eagles spent last weekend in St. Paul, Minnesota playing a doubleheader with St. Thomas Friday afternoon due to inclement weather the rest of the weekend. ORU dropped both games but scored 3-2 and 8-2 dropping to .500 in Summit League play.

The Cougars are coming off a weekend set with the No. 23 West Virginia Mountaineers in Provo, Utah dropping two of three. BYU was outscored in the series 44-36 including surrendering 39 runs across the last two games of the weekend.Â

These two programs come together for a game for the first time in five seasons, their last on February 23
rd, 2019 in Corpus Christie, Texas.Â

Oral Roberts trails the all-time series with the Cougars 5-3 with their last meeting coming back in 2019. BYU got the best of the Golden Eagles 8-3 down in Corpus Christi, Texas, their first game since 2008. ORU's last victory came on March 29
th, 2008, by a score of 12-5 at home, where they are 3-4 against the Cougars all-time.

Scouting the Opponent:
BYU comes into Tuesday's game with a 14-11 record and a 4-5 conference record in the inaugural season in the Big 12 conference. The Cougars have taken on West Virginia, Cincinnati who ORU will see later this season, and Central Florida in league play.

They head into the mid-week with a top-heavy lineup offensively sporting six everyday starters batting above .300 led by Bryker Hurdsman hitting .425 in 22 games. The Junior outfielder boasts a slugging percentage of .675 which is second on the team but is a bigger strikeout candidate with 22, second highest on the squad. Cooper Vest highlights the order leading BYU in homers with nine and RBIs with 30. Vest also reaches the painful way, being hit by 10 pitches this season, the most on the team.

Left-hander Brett Hansen will take the mound for the Cougars Tuesday night making just his third appearance on the season. He has no record and a 9.00 ERA in just 2.0 innings of work in 2025 with his last outing coming on Thursday against West Virginia.

The last time the Cougars took the field during the mid-week they handed the ball to Owen Miller who went 3.0 innings giving up four hits, two runs, two walks, and struck out one against Utah Tech on March 17
th. The freshman right-hander sports an 0-1 record with a 6.00 ERA in 9.0 innings of work. RHP Hayden Coon is a name to look for out of the bullpen having a 1.00 ERA in 9.0 innings this season with a walk-to-strikeout ratio of 1/12. The lefty Ashton Johnson has the second-lowest bullpen ERA of 3.72 in 9.2 innings and has 12 punchouts to no walks.Â

BYU as a team hits .291 at the plate blasting 32 homers which ranks 58
th in the country. Their team ERA floats above 6.00 at 6.56 giving up 177 runs, 161 of which have been earned in 2025. In the field the Cougars execute well with a .977 fielding percentage, 44
th in the NCAA, committing only 21 errors and turning 18 double-plays this year.
