#ORUBase’s Pitching Paves the Way for Game Two Victory

TULSA, OKLA. – The Oral Roberts baseball clinched their second series with a 4-2 win over Southern Indiana on Saturday afternoon.
 
Right-handed starter Nathan Love posted 6.1 scoreless innings surrendering seven hits, one walk, and struck out six on the way to his second win.
 
Both starters had their way early on at Chapman Park as both offenses were scoreless through five innings. 
 
Then, in the sixth, ORU opened the scoring for the first time since February 21st with four runs in the frame.  Cooper Combs doubled to drive in a run, and Ethan Fender drove in Combs on a single.  Later, Makani Tanaka would score on a wild pitch, and finally, Fender would score on a Keaton Campbell single into left. 
 
Jared Ure was called upon to take over for Love's fantastic day and he held the Screaming Eagles to zero in the seventh and eighth innings. 
 
However, Southern Indiana wouldn't go quietly, scoring twice in the top of the ninth on a sacrifice fly and a Golden Eagle error.  Ure was ultimately able to shut the door picking up his first save, securing a 4-2 win. 
 
 
Inside the Box Score 
-           ORU used only two pitchers after needing four to complete game one
-            Saturday was Nathan Love's second shutout outing of the season, his second win
-            Cooper Combs picked up his 16th RBI which leads the team
 
Game Notes
-         ORU scored first for the first time since their series-opening game at Arizona State on February 21st
-           Jared Ure has gone at least 2.0 innings in four of six outings this season
-            The Golden Eagles can grab a series sweep for the second time this season with a win on Sunday
