Scouting the Opponent:
Northern Colorado comes into this weekend's matchup at 10-21 fresh off of a win over the United States Air Force Academy Wednesday night by a final of 8-7.  However, they've struggled as of late in Summit League play dropping eight of their last nine league games.  The Bears come into the weekend in fifth in the conference with wins over North Dakota State and South Dakota State.

UNC is led offensively by Kai Wagner who leads the team with five homers and 32 RBIs in 2025 to go along with a .317 average.  On top of his averages, Wagner is a tough out overall, walking 28 times to just 19 strikeouts, posting one of the best walk-to-strikeout ratios in the Summit.  Jake King follows him up with an average of .318 which leads the team of those who have started all 31 games this season.  As a unit, the Bears hit .280, 146th nationally, and have only hit 14 homers, ranking 280th in division one.

On the bump, Murphy Gienger leads the way for the Bears with a 1-2 record and 5.61 ERA in 43.1 innings of work walking only 14 batters to 48 strikeouts.  Geinger is in a three-way tie with a pair of Bison for the most punchouts in conference play at 25.  Right-hander Dylan Smith who sports a 1-5 record and 6.75 ERA along with righty Jake Storey who is 0-2 with an 8.70 ERA round out UNC's weekend rotation. The Bears as a staff have struggled with a team ERA of 8.09 ranking 255th in the country and allowing their opponents to hit .280.

Defensively is where the Bears have struggled the most with a fielding percentage of just .951 ranking 284th nationally, the lowest of any Golden Eagle opponent.  In addition, they have committed 57 errors which is the highest total for an ORU opponent in 2025 averaging 1.8 per game.  UNC has committed at least one error in the last 12 games and five of those have been multi-error contests.
