OMAHA, NEB. – Behind a dominant complete game from
Brenden Asher and a trio of home runs, the Oral Roberts baseball team cruised past Omaha, 8-1, on Friday to advance to the 2025 Summit League Baseball Championship title game.
Asher was electric on the mound, tossing the first complete game by a Golden Eagle this season while holding the Mavericks to just three hits and one earned run. The right-hander struck out six and walked only one across nine innings, improving to 3-2 on the year. His 116-pitch outing marked his longest appearance of the season.
Offensively, ORU wasted no time responding from a Thursday shutout.
Will Edmunson got things rolling with a solo home run to left-center on the third pitch he saw in the top of the first inning. In the fourth,
Jack Schark doubled the lead with a solo shot of his own, while
Martell Davis broke the game open in the fifth with a two-run blast to make it 4-0.
Davis added a double as part of a two-hit, three-RBI performance. Schark led the 12-hit attack with a 3-for-5 day, driving in three runs, including RBI singles in the seventh and ninth innings.
The win also marked a milestone for head coach
Ryan Folmar, who became the all-time winningest coach in Summit League history with his 379th career league victory.
