FARGO, ND. - The Oral Roberts baseball team fought off North Dakota State's late comeback bid to hang on in extras and win the series finale 9-8 on Sunday afternoon.

Jack Schark hit his seventh homer, now tied for the team lead, and knocked in a run on a double a part of his great day at the plate.

In the first, it was the Golden Eagles starting to score with one in the top half thanks to Schark's double down the left field line. NDSU would strike back in the bottom half with a run of their own, and it was a 1-1 ballgame after one.

Fast forward to the third, and ORU hit back-to-back homers for the second time this season with a two-run homer and Makani Tanaki hitting a solo shot, his fourth of the season.  The Bison would get another run back, however, in the bottom of the third.

ORU put together a crooked inning in the fourth as the bats came alive for four runs in the frame, highlighted by Cooper Combs' RBI single, his 40th of the season, and Wailele Kane-Yates' single giving the Golden Eagles a six-run lead.

Freshman right-hander Brendan Asher tossed 6.0 innings for the second straight time, allowing eight hits, three runs, no walks, and striking out a career high six batters.

From then on, NDSU slowly crept back, scoring once in the fifth and twice in the seventh.  In the ninth, ORU took a three-run lead into the frame, and it was erased in the blink of an eye as NDSU scored three times, highlighted by a two-run triple with nobody out.

With the series going to extras for the second time, Will Edmunson reached with a single with one out in the tenth. Moments later, Combs popped one up on the infield that ended up dropping, allowing him to reach. The throw to catch Edmunson at second went into center field, allowing him to reach third.

Then, with runners on the corners and one out, Kane-Yates flew a sacrifice fly into left field, allowing Edmunson to score the go-ahead run.

In the bottom of half, Conner Floyd came back out for his second inning of work and slammed the door, working around a two-out single, earning his second win of the season and securing a 9-8 win in extras to win the series.
