TULSA, Okla. - Oral Roberts Volleyball is set to compete in the Gonzaga Volleyball Invitational starting Thursday, September 3.  

Opening Serve  

• ORU swept the first tournament of the season 3-0, recorded two double-double by Cortnee Smith, who got 19 kills and 12 digs and Ana Appel, who got 32 assists and 11 digs. 

• Head coach Nolan Albrecht is in his second year as the head coach of the ORU volleyball program adding Karl France and Ariana Pagan Munoz to his staff as assistant coaches this offseason. 

• The Golden Eagles have welcomed 13 newcomers this offseason, six of whom are freshmen.  

• Setter Ana Appel and outside hitter Cortnee Smith were named Summit League Preseason Players to Watch.  

Inside the Matchup: Eastern Washington  

• The Golden Eagles will play against the EWU Eagles on Thursday at 4:30 PM CT. 

• The only matchup was held in 2007 with the Golden Eagles taking the game. 

• Jon Haruguchi enters his fourth season as the head coach with Eastern Washington. He holds a 42-75 record in his time with the volleyball team.  

Inside the Matchup: Gonzaga 

• ORU will face Gonzaga on Friday at 8 PM CT.  

• Friday marks the first ever matchup between ORU and the Bulldogs.  

• JT Wenger enters his second season with the Bulldogs and holds a 15-17 record overall.  

Inside the Matchup: Cal St. Fullerton 

• The matchup with the Call St. Fullerton Eagles is scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 PM CT. 

• The Golden Eagles faced Cal St. Fullerton Titans three times in past two years and fell short all matches.  

• Nichole "Nicky" Cannon enters her second season and holds a 9-24 career record during her time at Cal St. Fullerton.
