TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts cross country team won't need to travel far the Golden Eagles are set to race in the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State on Saturday morning.
 
The women's 6K at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course is set to begin at 8:15 a.m. CT with the men's 8K immediately following at 8:50 a.m. The meet will be streamed on ESPN+ at 7 p.m., with live results shared via Red Dirt Running.
 
The Golden Eagles opened the season at the Bob Timmons Rim Rock Classic, where the men's team finished third overall with 70 points and the women's team came in fourth with 85 points.
 
Abraham Chelangam's took first in the men's 6000 meter running a 17:58.8, two second ahead of four Kansas competitors. Joining in the top finishers were Artwell Magake, who ran an 18:41.3 and finished eighth, and Andrew Smithwick, who ran a 19:02.2 and places 14th. Brian Cheruiyot and Sibonokuhle Thwala placed 25th and 26th, respectively, running 19:43.1 and 19:44.4.
 
Leading the ORU women's team was Ossly Murambidzi, running a 17:57.2 and placing third, marking her third top 10 finish at the annual invitational. Sydney Lister was the next Golden Eagle to cross the finish, running a 19:53.7 and placing 17th.
 
Chelangam was named the first Summit League Peak Performer of the 2026 season after his performance in the Bob Timmons Rim Rock Classic.
 
The Golden Eagles went toe-to-toe with some of the top programs in the country at last season's Cowboy Campboree, as the men's team finished eighth and the women's 13th.
 
Abraham Chelangam finished 17th on the mem's side with a time of 24:13.0. Other top 50 finishers included Andrew Smithwick in 33rd, who ran a 24:40.3, and Cornelius Kipkogei in 49th with a time of 25:07.0. Ossly Murambidzi led the way for the women, placing 56th and running a 22:05.4. Madeline Cabana followed in 59th, running a 22:07.9.
