TULSA, Okla. -- Oral Roberts scored six runs in
the bottom of the eighth as the Golden Eagles rallied for an 11-5
win over Northeastern, Friday at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
Tied at five entering the bottom of the eighth the Golden Eagles
sent 11 batters to the plate but collected only two hits. Huskies
pitcher Jordan Thomson walked three batters and hit one, while his
defense committed two errors in allowing ORU to rally for its sixth
straight win.
Dallas Martin (2-3) picked up the win with 1.2 innings of
relief. Thomson (1-2) took the loss for Northeastern.
The Huskies grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second, but ORU scored
three times in the third and twice more in the fifth for a 5-2
lead. Northeastern chipped away, scoring single runs in the fourth,
sixth and eighth to tie the game.
ORU banged out 10 hits and took advantage of 11 walks by
Northeastern pitching. Dennis Bigley and Matt VanDerBosch each had
two hits and two RBI, and Scott Modeste plated three runs with a
single and a sacrifice fly.
The Golden Eagles and Huskies resume their series at 2 p.m.,
Saturday.
