Calif.) belted a pair of home runs as the Oral Roberts University
baseball team breezed past Missouri Southern 10-1, Saturday at J.L.
Johnson Stadium.
Tuttle paced ORU's
(2-0) 10-hit attack, going 2-for-4 and driving in five runs. He
blasted a grand slam in the sixth and added a solo shot in the
eighth.
The Lions (0-2) took a
1-0 lead in the top of the first on Jeff Taylor's RBI single. ORU
tied it at one in the bottom of the first when Matt VanDerBosch's
(Hastings, Minn.) RBI grounder scored Ryan Welborn (Yukon,
Okla.).
A two-run error and a
Brian Hanson
(Kelseyville, Calif.) RBI double in the second gave ORU a 4-1 lead,
and the Golden Eagles took a 9-1 lead in the sixth on Tuttle's slam
and an RBI bunt single by VanDerBosch.
Boomer Welles (Beverly
Hills, Calif.) finished the day 3-for-5 for the Golden Eagles.
Hanson was the only other ORU player with more than one hit, as he
was 2-for-3.
Matt Hancock (Okmulgee,
Okla.) picked up the win in his first ORU starter as the junior
left-hander allowed one run on five hits in five innings of work,
walking four and striking out three. Overall, four ORU pitchers
limited the Lions to just six hits.
Kyle Rogers
(0-1) suffered the loss for Missouri Southern.
ORU looks to sweep the
three-game series from Missouri Southern when the teams meet again
at 1 p.m., on Sunday.
