Texas €" Baylor€™s Chase Gerdes
singled down the right field line scoring the winning run to defeat
Oral Roberts University in the bottom of the 10th, 3-2,
at Baylor Ballpark on Friday night.
Chad Rothford (Fresno, Calif.) put the Golden
Eagles (2-4) on the board in the top of the first inning, singling
through the right side of the infield scoring Brendan
Duffy (Glendale, Ariz.) from second base.

(6-3) countered in the second to tie the game, 1-1. Beamer Weems

game would stay that way until Rothford connected on a home run
over the right field fence off of BU€™s starter
Randall Linebaugh in the top of the sixth. Linebaugh went seven
innings allowing two earned runs for the Bears.
ORU€™s lead would not last long though as

with two outs in the bottom half of the sixth.
Ashman
had a solid night for the Golden Eagles, scattering six hits and
allowing one earned run in 5.2 innings of work.

Ashman and pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.
The
Bears loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th off of
ORU€™s reliever Erik Crichton
(Seal Beach, Calif.) and then scored the game-winner with the
single by Gerdes.
The

season.
