University�€™s baseball team fell to No. 9
Arkansas, 10-2, in non-conference mid-week action on Tuesday
evening at Baum Ballpark.
Arkansas (14-5) attacked ORU�€™s starter
Erik Crichton (Seal Beach, Calif.) early getting a
run on the board in the first inning for an early 1-0 lead. ORU
(7-9) responded in the top of the second inning when Brian
Van Kirk (Southwest Ranches, Fla.) scored after a throwing
error by UA�€™s second baseman.
The
Razorbacks tallied two more runs in the bottom half of the second
for a 3-1 lead. Again, the Golden Eagles would answer in the next
inning to lessen Arkansas�€™s advantage to 3-2.

Minissale (Murphy, Texas).
Arkansas would not allow any more Golden Eagles to cross the plate.
UA scored two runs in the fourth for a 5-2 advantage. Crichton left
after the fifth inning, allowing five earned runs on seven hits
while striking out four Razorbacks.
The
Razorbacks scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh off
ORU�€™s reliever Chris Ashman
(Hemet, Calif.). Only one of those runs was earned as Ashman
pitched 2.0 innings of relief, allowing two hits and striking out
two.
The
home team would score three more in the bottom of the eighth for a
10-2 lead over the Golden Eagles. Carlos Luna
(Bakersfield, Calif.) pitched the eighth for ORU and allowed two
earned runs and struck out one.
Minissale led the Golden Eagles from the plate with a 2-of-4
performance with the bat. Van Kirk registered the only RBI.
The
Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday when they begin a
three-game set with Big 10 opponent Penn State at J.L. Johnson
Stadium. First pitch against the Nittany Lions will begin at 3:00
p.m.
