ROCHESTER, Mich. �€" Chance Chapman
(Paso Robles, Calif.) struck out 13 batters and seven different
Golden Eagles had at least two hits as Oral Roberts University
defeated Oakland, 15-2, in Mid-Continent Conference action, on
Friday afternoon at OU Baseball Field. With the win, ORU improved
to 25-15 overall and 8-1 in the Mid-Con while Oakland fell to 14-26
overall, and 1-8 in league play.
Chapman
(5-1) earned his fifth win of the year, allowing two runs and
scattering eight hits in 8.0 innings of work.
Jake Kahaulelio (Windsor, Calif.) had an RBI
double in the third inning for the Golden Eagles as ORU took an
early 1-0 lead.
ORU
scored eight runs on seven hits in the fourth inning to increase
the lead to 9-0. The Golden Eagles had a total of 14 batters come
to the plate in the inning. Pat Warfle (Melboure,
Fla.), Kelly Minissale (Murphy, Texas),
Kahaulelio, and Stephen Pearson (Petaluma,
Calif.), each had RBIs.
The
Golden Grizzly loaded the bases off Chapman in the fifth inning and
scored two runs to cut ORU�€™s lead to 9-2.
The
Golden Eagles scored runs in each the sixth, seventh, eighth, and
ninth to make it a 15-2 ballgame.
Warfle
and Kahaulelio led the Golden Eagle attack with three RBI each.
Leadoff hitter Brendan Duffy extended his hitting streak to 15
games with a 2-for-6 effort. Eight different hitters knocked in
runs for ORU.
Dale Reneau (Oklahoma City, Okla.) finished the
game for ORU with an inning of scoreless relief in the bottom of
the ninth.
ORU and
Oakland return to action tomorrow, playing a twin bill, starting at
11 a.m. (CDT).
