ROCHESTER, Mich. �€" Carter McQuigg
(Miami, Okla.) hit a go-ahead home run to break a 9-9 tie
in the seventh as Oral Roberts University went on to defeat
Oakland, 15-10, to complete a four-game sweep in Mid-Continent
Conference action on Sunday.
The
Golden Eagles (28-15, 11-1 Mid-Con) trailed 9-6 going into the top
of the sixth but reeled off nine straight runs to take a 15-9 lead
over OU (14-29, 1-11 Mid-Con).
With
the Golden
Eagles trailing 9-6 in the sixth inning, Chad Rothford hit three
run home run over the center field fence to even the score, 9-9. It
was the senior�€™s team-leading 11th
round tripper.
McQuigg
led off the seventh with a solo home run to left field for a 10-9
Golden Eagle lead.
ORU�€™s offense provided some relief for reliever
Erik Crichton (Seal Beach, Calif.) with a five-run
ninth inning. Crichton earned his fourth save of the year with
three innings of relief.
Things
started out
differently for ORU as the Golden Grizzly took their first lead of
the series in the home side of the first inning off starter
Chris Ashman (Hemet, Calif.).
OU�€™s Andrew Stafford singled to right field to
score Justin Wilson as OU grabbed a 1-0 lead.
ORU
took back the lead in their next at-bat on a Adam
Younger (Cape Coral, Fla.) two-RBI double as the Golden
Eagles took a 2-1 lead.
After
Oakland knotted the game at 2-2, the Golden Eagles responded with a
four-run fourth inning to take a 6-2 lead. Marcus
Tackett (Tulsa, Okla.) brought in Pat
Warfle (Melboure, Fla.) for the first run of the inning.
Jake Kahaulelio (Windsor, Calif.) then plated two
runs with a double down the left field line.
Rothford produced the last run of the inning with a sacrifice
fly.
Oakland
scored three runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to take a 9-6
lead.

Minissale
(Murphy, Texas) had a huge day from the plate for the Golden
Eagles, going
five-for-six with one RBI and three runs. Brendan
Duffy (Glendale, Ariz.) went 2-for-5 with an RBI to extend
his hitting streak to 18 games.
Erik Mattison
(Granite Bay, Calif.) had a solid performance for the
Golden Eagles out of the bullpen with 1.1 innings of scoreless
work.
Mattison was credited with his first win of the year.
The
Golden Eagles scored 15 runs on a season-high 19 hits.
ORU
returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to Springfield, Mo. for a
mid-week game against Missouri State. The first pitch is set for
7:00 p.m.
