ARLINGTON, Texas -- Dallas Baptist's Trevor Head belted a three-run
home run as DBU handed No. 24 Oral Roberts University their first
defeat of the season, 5-1, Friday night at the UTA Invitational at
Clay Gould Ballpark.
With the win, Dallas Baptist improves to 7-3 on the year while ORU
dropped to 7-1 on the year.
Head's blast off starter
Jerry Sullivan (2-1) capped off a four-run
third inning where DBU grabbed a 4-0 lead and never looked back.
Head's home run came after Austin Knight singled in Ryan Enos for
the Patriots first run.
Dallas Baptist added an insurance run in the fourth on a Andrew
Pirtle RBI sacrifice fly.
The Golden Eagles managed their only run in the top of the sixth
off a solo home run by
Ryan Groth. Groth's home run was the first
ORU home run of the 2008 season.
ORU was unable to get any more runs off DBU's starter Jordan Meaker
(2-0) as Meaker scattered four Golden Eagle hits in eight solid
innings.
Dale Reneau relieved Sullivan in the seventh and
pitched two innings of scoreless relief.
Sullivan finished the night with six innings, allowing nine hits
and five earned runs while striking out four.
The Golden Eagles return to action tomorrow at the UTA
Invitational, playing host UT-Arlington at 2 p.m.
