HOUSTON
Jameson
Dunn (Carrollton, Texas) pitched 5.1 scoreless innings and T.J.
Kelly didn't allow a hit in 2.1 innings of relief as the Oral
Roberts University (6-2) baseball team edged Washington State (3-7)
by a score of 2-1 on Saturday at the Academy Sports + Outdoors Rice
Classic at Reckling Park.
The Golden
Eagles struck first in the bottom of the third to take the early
2-0 advantage. Kyle
Price (Talihina, Okla.) reached on an error to lead off the
inning. After Colby
Price (Brenham, Texas) bunted the runner to second, Justin
Mitchell (Broken Arrow, Okla.) followed with a perfect bunt
down the third base line for a single.
Tyler
Garewal (Bakersfield, Calif.) followed with a single to left
field to plate Price for his second RBI of the tournament. Juan
Martinez drove in his sixth run of the season with a sacrifice
fly to score Mitchell and stretch the advantage to two runs.
Dunn (1-1)
worked his way through trouble as batters reached in all five
innings. Freshman Drew
Bowen (Tulsa, Okla.) came on in relief in the top of the sixth
with two on and two outs, and struck out the batter to keep the
shutout intact.
Washington
State managed to get on the board in the top of the seventh after
three consecutive walks loaded the bases and a runner scored on a
passed ball. After another walk, T.J.
Kelly (Bakersfield, Calif.) came in to get the third out and
avoid further damage.
Kelly, a
senior right-hander, pitched a hitless 2.1 innings to close out the
game and pick up his first save of the season and 11th of his
career.

his first win of the season after scattering six hits while fanning
three batters and walking three in 5.1 innings.
Washington
State's Jared Prince (0-1) suffered the loss after giving up four
