TULSA, Okla.
 The Oral Roberts University baseball team opened Summit
League play on Friday night with a 19-0 blanking of IPFW at J.L.
Johnson Stadium. The Golden Eagles improved to 9-8 overall, while
the Mastodons dropped to 7-15 on the season.
The Golden Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the second on
four walks, two hit batters and one error.
 ORU added five more runs in the following inning, as PJ
Sequeira (Petaluma, Calif.) led off with a single to left
field. Kyle Price drove a one-out single to left field
and Danny Duffy (Glendale, Ariz.) followed with his
first career home run to left center to push the lead to 6-0.
Robert Barbosa (Dallas, Texas) hit a single up
the middle in the next at-bat and Juan
Martinez reached first after being hit before Seth
Furmanek (Gilbert, Ariz.) doubled to left center to score
two.
Two innings later the Golden Eagles plated seven runs to put the
contest out of reach. With the bases loaded and two outs, Johnny
Roberts (Pryor, Okla.) singled through the right side to score
two.
After two more errors loaded the bases again, Barbosa drove a
double to left center for three RBI to increase the margin to
13-0.
The Golden Eagles rounded out the scoring in the bottom of the
eighth, as Brett Burch (Midland, Mich.) homered to left
field for his first hit as a Golden Eagle. With two outs, Price
belted a two-run shot for his first long ball of the season.
Andre Lamontagne (1-2) picked up his first win of
the season after limiting the Mastodons to only two hits in seven
innings with a career-high 13 strikeouts.

Grover (Santa Maria, Calif.) and Bryce
Smolen (Houston, Texas) pitched two scoreless innings of relief
to close out the game. Grover struck out two batters, while Smolen
also added a punch out.
Barbosa, Furmanek and Garewal all tallied three RBI for the Golden
Eagles, while Duffy, Price and Roberts each drove in two runs.
ORU returns to action for a doubleheader against IPFW beginning at
2 p.m. on Saturday.
