ORU Baseball Meets Dallas Baptist Today

DALLAS, Texas – The Oral Roberts University baseball team makes up the first of two games against Dallas Baptist today at 3:00 p.m. at Patriot Field in Dallas, Texas. Live stats and audio will be available at www.orugoldeneagles.com.

First Pitch
The Golden Eagles (12-8) head to Dallas to face the Patriots of Dallas Baptist at 3:00 p.m. on Monday after sweeping IPFW in a four-game series to open Summit League play over the weekend. Monday's game is the first of two games to be made up this season after a weekend rainout at Dallas Baptist earlier this season. ORU leads the all-time series against the Patriots by a 12-9 advantage dating back to the 1977 season. The two teams met four times last season, splitting the series.

Scouting the Patriots
Dallas Baptist enters Monday's contest with a 19-8 record and is coming off of a three-game sweep of Houston Baptist where the average margin of victory was 10 runs. Ryan Enos leads a powerful offense, batting .426 with 11 doubles, 11 homers and 36 RBI. Ryan Thompson and Ryan Goins are batting .368 and .367, respectively, with a combined 15 homers and 49 RBI.

Last Time Out

The Golden Eagles opened Summit League play with a bang this past weekend, outscoring IPFW 63-10 in four victories. P.J. Sequeira posted nine hits to lead ORU, while Johnny Roberts tallied eight hits and Seth Furmanek, Tyler Garewal and Juan Martinez each had seven hits. Furmanek posted six extra-base hits, with four doubles and two homers, and nine RBI. Andre Lamontagne earned the win on Friday, tossing seven scoreless innings while only allowing two hits with a career-high 13 strikeouts. Freshman Drew Bowen made his first career start in Saturday's first game, holding IPFW scoreless in six innings while striking out a career-high 12 batters with only one walk. Jerry Sullivan and Mark Serrano picked up wins in the third and fourth games of the weekend. The 63 runs scored over the weekend marked the most against a Summit League opponent in school history, while the 26 runs in Sunday's win marked the most runs scored in a regular-season conference game.

Countdown to Win No. 250
ORU skipper Rob Walton has earned a 233-86 record since taking over the reigns of the program in 2004. Walton has averaged 44 wins and 16 losses in his five seasons at ORU, with one 50-win season (2004) and four 40-win seasons. Only two other coaches in ORU history have recorded 250 or more wins, as Larry Cochell (1977-86) posted 428 victories and Sunny Golloway (1996-2003) earned 335 wins. Walton would be the fastest to reach the 250-win mark, as Cochell achieved the feat four games into his seventh season, while Golloway reached the number six games into his seventh year.
