Furmanek and Lamontagne Earn Summit League Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. – ORU senior right-hander Andre Lamontagne was named the Summit League Pitcher of the Week while junior catcher Seth Furmanek earned conference player of the week honors, the league office announced on Monday.

Lamontagne (Santa Maria, Calif.) picked up his first win of the season on Friday, tossing seven scoreless innings while limiting IPFW batters to just two hits in ORU's 19-0 victory in the conference opener. Lamontagne struck out a career-high 13 batters and only walked two. The 13 strikeouts ties Mark Serrano for the most punch outs this season.

Lamontagne currently leads the ORU starters with a 2.72 ERA in 36.1 innings pitched this season. The senior has struck out 42 batters and opponents are only hitting .210 against him.

Furmanek (Gilbert, Ariz.) earned his second player of the week accolade on Monday after posting seven hits against the Mastodons over the weekend. Six of the seven hits went for extra bases, with four doubles and two home runs. Furmanek drove in 10 runs over the week and posted a slugging percentage of .773. The junior went 4-for-6 with six RBI on Sunday against IPFW.

Furmanek is currently third on the squad with a .300 batting average, while leading the team in homers (6), RBI (23), total bases (50), walks (16) and slugging percentage (.625).

The Golden Eagles play host to UT-Arlington tonight at 6:30 p.m. at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
