NORMAN, Okla.-With six top-50 teams in the field, the ORU
women's golf team struggled to find a rhythm in round one of the
2011 Susie Maxwell Berning Classic, hosted by the University of
Oklahoma.
ORU combined to shoot 316 (+28), the second highest total of the
year as the finished round one in 17th place overall.
Florida State shot a -4, 284 to lead the team race.
Starting on the 10th hole for the first round, It
wasn't until the second nine that ORU was able to finish a hole
under par, with Crystal
Reeves recorded back-to-back birdies on holes three and four.
It was the only two birdies of the day for the Golden Eagles.
Reeevs finished the day +5 (77) in a tie for 49th.
Alheli
Moreno and Amber
Hensley each shot +7 (79) to tie for 64th as Hensley
finished her first round of the year as part of the team. She shot
a pair of 79's as an individual in the second and third rounds of
the ORU Shootout at the beginning of the month.
Kylie
Bollenbach finished with an 81 (+9) to finish 81st,
and Eve
Santillan's 86 (+14) put her tied for 89th
overall.
The Golden Eagles will start round two off the 10th tee again on
Monday morning being paird with UTSA and the individuals. Santillan
will be the first one off the tee at 9 a.m., with Reeves rounding
