Box Score
Fullerton, Calif.- The Golden Eagles'
trip to the West Coast could not cure their road woes, as Oral
Roberts fell to No. 11 Cal State Fullerton 7-1 on Thursday at
Goodwin Field.
ORU (9-11) lost their fourth consecutive
game, scoring just six runs in that span. Cam
Schiller was 3-4 on the night and had the Golden Eagles only
RBI which came in the sixth inning with a double that scored Brandon
King.
Kurt
Giller (1-3) was given the loss after allowing two runs off
three hits in three innings of work.
The Golden Eagles kept the game close,
down 3-1 headed into the seventh inning, and although the offense
was minimal for the Golden Eagles, it would be the defense that
ultimately led to the loss. The Titans broke the game open in the
bottom of the seventh inning when a grounder by Greg Velasquez
rolled through Jared
Schlehuber's legs, scoring Carlos Lopez and Anthony Hutting.
The Titans would score two more unearned runs in the inning to push
the lead to 7-1.
Drew
Bowen will take the mound for the Golden Eagles in game two as
he looks to get ORU back on track. Bowen pitched his second
complete game shutout of the season in his last start against
Missouri State. Game two of the series is slated for 9 p.m. On
Friday.
