Gonzalez was named College Sports Madness Summit Baseball
Player of the Week for his exceptional performance during last
week's action.
Gonzalez captures his fifth career
shutout and first this season after collecting the victory against
No.13 Cal State Fullerton. The sophomore went 7.2 innings with six
strikeouts and only one walk. He surrendered five hits, all
singles, and no runs in the 3-0 win. It was ORU's first victory
over a ranked opponent since last season's win over No. 10 TCU in
the NCAA Regionals.
Gonzalez improved his overall record to
2-1 with a 1.40 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 25.2 innings of work.
Gonzalez suffered a back injury in late February causing him to
miss several starts, but has since bounced back with quality starts
his last two outings.
