TULSA, Okla. - The Golden Eagles hot bats
went cold on Sunday, and Oral Roberts fell to Louisiana Tech 3-2 at
J.L. Johnson Stadium.
After scoring 23 runs in the previous two
games, ORU managed just two runs off six hits against the
Bulldogs.
Jared Schlehuber hit his seventh home run
of the season in the second inning, and was 2-4 with two runs to
lead the ORU offense.
Kurt Giller started the game and pitched
five innings, allowing one run off two hits with six
strikeouts.
Louisiana Tech (14-14) was led by Alex
Williams, who hit his 30th career home run off reliever
Tim
ZuFall in the sixth inning to give the Bulldogs their first
lead of the series, 2-1. Jamie Gilley started the game for
Louisiana Tech and threw 5.1 innings, allowing one run with six
strikeouts before being replaced by closer Caleb Dudley (4-0), who
came on the pitch the final 3.2 innings and earn the win.
Louisiana Tech Head Coach Wade Simoneaux
recorded his 250th career win.
Schlehuber's home run in the second
inning gave ORU the lead, but the Bulldogs tied the game in the
fifth when Kyle Ansberg opened the inning with a walk, then scored
after a throwing error by Cam Schillier and an RBI single by Taylor
Burch.
ORU fell behind 2-1 after the Williams'
home run in the sixth, but tied the game in the eighth inning when
a double by Jose
Trevino and a groundout by Nate
Goro brought Schlehuber around to score.
Matt Rush (0-2) came on in the ninth
inning with a 2-2 tie and gave up the go-ahead run after a lead-off
single by Justin Gordey and an RBI-triple by Sam Alvis.
The Golden Eagles fell to 9-4 at home on
the season.
