Run Rule)
Kurt
Giller threw a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits
with five strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles scored one run in the
first with an RBI double by Jose
Trevino, and four more in the second to make it 5-0 after a
three run home run by Schlehuber and an RBI-double by Cam
Schiller.
A sacrifice bunt by Kevin
Cho in the fifth inning pushed the lead to 6-0, and an
RBI-single by Schiller in the sixth made it 7-0. Tom Constand
walked Bennett
Pickar with the bases loaded in the sixth to give ORU an 8-0
lead, then Schlehuber capped the win with a two-run walk-off in the
seventh.
Game 2: ORU 2, WIU 0
(7-innings)
ORU found it more difficult to scrape
together runs in game two, but all they would need was one as Alex
Gonzalez (4-2) was brilliant on the mound once again, throwing
a complete game one-hitter with five strikeouts. The defending
Summit League Pitcher of the Year lowered his ERA to 1.85 on the
season.
A solo home run by Trevino in the second
and a groundout by Cho that scored Jake
O'Brien in the third were the only runs scored in the game.
The series will conclude on Sunday at
J.L. Johnson Stadium at 1 p.m. as ORU looks for the four game
sweep.
