Box Score
TULSA, Okla. - Nate
Goro and Tyler
Boss had a solid afternoon at the plate, but it wasn't enough
as the Oral Roberts baseball team fell for the second straight
contest to Dallas Baptist, 8-3.
Goro finished the afternoon with three hits, while Boss added a
pair of hits and drove in Graham
McIntyre with a bases loaded infield single in the bottom of
the ninth.
Despite the score, the Golden Eagles actually had one more hit
than the Patriots, rattling off 13 in the game. Unfortunately, many
of those hits were for virtually nothing as ORU left a total of 12
standing on base, their second highest total of the season.
After struggling at the plate the past few games, Jose
Trevino has begun to inch his way out of an early season cold
stint, blasting a 2-1 pitch over the advertisements in left field
for a solo home run, his first since his opening at bat of the
season.
In the bottom of the seventh, Trevino add his second run batted
in of the ball game, grounding out with the bases loaded to push in
McIntyre from third. McIntyre reached base earlier in the inning
with one of his two singles on the afternoon.
All but one starting position player for the Golden Eagles
recorded a hit in the loss. Chris
Williams picked up a couple of singles and Logan
Domenico and Brandy Healy singling as well.
Working his way back from injury, Drew
Bowen got the start, going four innings. Though the first three
of the afternoon, Bowen didn't allow a hit, but in the fourth the
Patriots got their first two runs with a pair of hits.
Cy Sneed was the winning pitcher for the Patriots.
In the top of the fifth, DBU extended their lead with three runs
on three hits, highlighted by a leadoff homer to left by Chane
Lynch. They continued their scoring trend, adding single runs in
each the sixth, seventh and ninth innings.
Boomer Collins had a big day at the plate for the Patriots,
picking up three hits, including a double, crossing the plate twice
and driving in a runner in the seventh.
ORU (5-8) looks to salvage the series against DBU (7-8) on
Sunday afternoon at J.L. Johnson Stadium. First pitch is scheduled
for 1 p.m.
