Title hopes alive entering final series at NWLA

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University baseball team enters the final series of the season on Thursday evening at Northwestern State. First pitch for games one and two are set for 6:30 p.m. and game three on Saturday is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Golden Eagles (21-29, 14-10 SLC) are currently tied for third place with Southeastern Louisiana and Stephen F. Austin and just three games behind first place Sam Houston State. Entering the final weekend, not one of the eight seeds in the Southland Conference tournament have been determined.

Northwestern State (15-28, 4-20 SLC) is the lone team in the conference that has been eliminated from tournament contention.

Junior pitcher Alex Gonzalez will get the call on the mound in game one for the Golden Eagles. In a three-game stretch, beginning on April 27 through the seventh inning last Friday against McNeese State, Gonzalez threw 19 scoreless innings. He currently has 112 strikeouts, second most in the nation.

Friday's contest between ORU and Northwestern State is the first since 2002, with the Golden Eagles leading the all-time series, 6-4.
