The Basics
Score: Oral Roberts 14 – Fort Wayne 0

ORU (34-18, 23-6 Summit League) – Fort Wayne (11-36, 7-22 Summit League)
Location:
Fort Wayne, Ind. (Mastodon Field)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Ten different players scored at least one run as the Oral Roberts baseball team overwhelmed Fort Wayne in a 14-0 victory Friday afternoon. The Golden Eagles out-hit the Mastodons 16-2 in the run-rule win and scored multiple runs in five frames.

Josh McMinn pitched another gem through falling rain that forced first pitch to be pushed back 30 minutes. The delay did not stop McMinn or the Golden Eagles' offense as the team was sharp from start to finish. McMinn allowed only two hits over five scoreless innings, while the offense matched a season-high with 10 walks.

Quotes of the Day

"We were able to keep the ball out of the air early and push across a couple of runs. Then we took some walks, took a couple of extra bases and forced the action a bit, and I thought that was the difference. Josh was sharp and we got good work out of our bullpen as well." – Head Coach Ryan Folmar

Turning Point

A four-run second inning broke the game open right away for the Golden Eagles started by a bunt single from Nick Rotola. The senior scored on a single from Riley Keizor to put ORU on the board, 1-0, before a walk to AJ Archambo and single from Harrison Smith loaded the bases with one out. Nick Roark cleared the bases as he laced a three-run double down the line in left and stretched the visitors' advantage to 4-0.

Inside the Box Score

- McMinn, the reigning Summit League Pitcher of the Week, kept the Mastodons off the board for five innings allowing just two base runners. The junior gave up two singles, but struck out three. He retired 13 of the final 14 batters faced without issuing a walk.

- ORU recorded at least one hit in six of the seven innings played totaling 16 for the rainy afternoon. Six players had multiple hits led by three from Smith, while Roark reached base five times in six plate appearances with a game-high three RBI.

- Archambo and Cal Hernandez each drew three of the team's 10 walks and Keizor was joined by Roark walking twice. Archambo also lined a RBI double to left in the seventh and scored two runs.

- Noah Cummings returned to the lineup for the first time in two weeks as the senior went 2-for-4 with a RBI single in the fifth and scored a run.

- Tanner Rogen and Trevor McCutchin each tossed a scoreless inning from the bullpen to preserve the road shutout without giving up a hit.
