ORU (14-15, 6-6 SL) – WIU (11-18, 5-7 Summit League)
Location:
Macomb, Ill. (Alfred D. Boyer Stadium)

MACOMB, Ill. – The Oral Roberts baseball team could not overcome a slow start falling at Western Illinois Sunday afternoon, 11-7, despite home runs from Spencer Henson and Trevor McCutchin at Alfred D. Boyer Stadium.

Henson hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning putting the Golden Eagles on the board first, but the advantage was short lived as the Leathernecks scored five in the first to take control.

Every time ORU cut into the lead, WIU had a response, including after posting three runs in the third when Isaac Coffey hit a two-run double off the wall in right and Riley Keizor continued the two-out rally hitting a RBI single making it 6-4.

McCutchin added a three-run blast in the seventh inning as the Golden Eagles made it a two-run game, but the Leathernecks pushed the lead back to 11-7 in the bottom of the inning to close out the weekend.

Turning Point

After ORU struck for a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, its first lead of the weekend, the Leathernecks answered back scoring five times in the bottom half of the inning for an early 5-1 advantage. A single to start the stanza and a two-run home run switched the lead to WIU before a pair of walks put more runners on base without an out recorded.

Inside the Box Score

- Henson finished the day going 4-for-5 at the plate and was just a triple shy of the cycle for the second time this season. The junior hit his seventh home run and added a double in his next at-bat recording three runs scored.

- McCutchin reached base three times tallying a pair of hits and three RBI to go with two runs scored and a walk. He posted a 2-for-4 effort in the series finale and matched Henson for the team lead with his seventh long ball of the year.

- Four of ORU's eight hits went for extra bases, including two home runs and two doubles. Jake McMurray drew two of the team's five walks.

- Trey Wolf entered in long relief for the Golden Eagles and tossed 3.1 innings allowing three runs on three hits, while striking out three. Hunter Swift gave up two runs in two innings and McCutchin pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
