The Basics

TULSA, Okla. – Fourteen different players got on the score sheet, including five in double-figure points, as the Oral Roberts men's basketball team cruised to a 111-58 victory over Southwestern Christian Saturday afternoon at the Mabee Center.
The Golden Eagles bench exploded for 77 points as the team shot 48 percent from 3-point range hitting 19-of-40 attempts, their most makes from behind the arc this season.
Max Abmas got the scoring started for the home side knocking down a triple on the fast break as ORU raced out to a 10-2 advantage with
Francis Lacis and
Kevin Obanor joining in the early offense. A 9-0 run by the Golden Eagles stretched the margin to 19-6, aided by back-to-back 3-pointers from Obanor and
DeShang Weaver, as the team hit 4-of-6 from distance to open the contest.
Nate Clover III converted a 3-point play following an Obanor alley-oop to cap 10-straight points for a 31-11 lead. SCU cut the gap to 16 with less than eight minutes in the half before the Golden Eagles took control pushing the advantage as high as 30, 55-25, on the first collegiate points by
Ismael Plet, a thundering slam on the fast break and ORU went to the locker room leading 56-30.
ORU continued its outpouring of offense in the second half as Lacis threw down a two-handed slam closing a 13-2 run over the first three minutes of the stanza. Weaver and
D'Mauria Jones drained triples on consecutive possessions for an 81-39 lead with 12:20 to play.
The Golden Eagles would not be stopped from distance at any point and tallied 10 of the final 12 points thanks to the hot shooting of
Justin Lovvorn putting the final touches on a 111-58 win.
Turning Point
A 7-0 spurt that took less than 90 seconds put the Golden Eagles in front, 10-2, and the offense never looked back on their way to a season-high 111 points as they held the lead wire-to-wire.
Individual Leaders
Oral Roberts: Lovvorn ended with a team-best 15 points hitting 5-of-7 from deep in just 12 minutes on the court. The redshirt senior is now 8-of-10 from 3-point range this season.
Southwestern Christian: Luiz Machado Jr. led the Eagles with 21 points hitting 8-of-10 from the free-throw line and three of the team's seven 3-pointers.
Inside the Box Score
- Weaver shot 4-of-8 from distance totaling 14 points as the ORU bench out-scored its starters by a 77-34 margin.
- For the first time in his ORU career,
D'Mauria Jones scored in double digits dropping 13 points to go with five rebounds and four assists.
-Clover III dominated inside as the freshman scored a season-best 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting and added four rebounds and two blocks.
- Obanor posted 10 points and six rebounds playing just 9:46 in the first half, while Abmas and Glasper added eight and seven points in nine minutes, respectively.

Carlos Jürgens had a career night with the ball in his hands dishing out six assists. Freshman
Jamie Bergens matched the team-best total of six assists during his first collegiate contest. As a team, the Golden Eagles registered a season-high 26 assists on 39 made field goals.
- Plet pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds in his ORU debut and recorded seven points and two steals.
News and Notes
- Saturday's 111 points marked the 112th time in ORU history scoring 100 or more points improving to 105-7 all-time. It was the most points in a single game since Feb. 27, 2020, in a 113-70 home win over Western Illinois.
- The Golden Eagles 53-point margin of victory is the 7th largest in school history matching the feat from Dec. 17, 2001, at home against UT Arlington (115-62).
- The 19 made 3-pointers is one shy of ORU's Mabee Center record of 20 set in 1991.
- ORU has now won 17 of its last 18 home games, including seven straight at the Mabee Center.
