WACO, Texas – Scoring four runs in the sixth inning sealed the deal as the Oral Roberts baseball team secured game one with a 7-3 win at Baylor Friday evening in Waco, Texas.

ORU had no problem reaching base early in the game, but couldn't score. After trailing early in the bottom of the second, 1-0, by a Baylor solo homer, the Golden Eagles responded with two runs in the top of the third. Adam Oviedo hit a single to center to allow Ryan Cash and Blake Hall to score and take a 2-1 lead.

Baylor answered in the bottom of the fifth with a stand-up double to tie the game, 2-2. In the sixth, Anthony Martinez laid down a bunt to advance Riley Keizor to third. Martinez was able to reach first on an error by the pitcher, which allowed Keizor to score. Caleb Denny came up and hit a RBI single to score Martinez for a 4-2 lead. Jordan Wiley followed with a 2-RBI double down the right field line to score Cash and Denny. The four run sixth inning gave the Golden Eagles a 6-2 lead. 

Hunter Swift hit a RBI Triple in the top of the seventh to score Martinez and give ORU a 7-2 lead. Swift's triple was ORU's first triple of the season. Baylor made it a 7-3 game on a sacrifice-fly in the bottom of the eighth.

Turning Point

The Golden Eagles entered the sixth inning tied, 2-2 with Baylor. The Golden Eagles scored four runs in the top of the frame. Two of the runs for ORU were unearned.

Inside the Box Score

- Ryan Cash scored two runs for the Golden Eagles and batted .500 in the game with two walks.

- Anthony Martinez captured two runs and went 2-for-3 at the plate.

- Hunter Swift hit the team's first triple of the season. Swift reached base three times in the game, two on errors by Baylor.

- AJ Archambo finished the game with six innings pitched and 90 pitches along with two runs, all earned and three strikeouts.

- As a team, the Golden Eagles hit .235 in the game. All Golden Eagles in tonight's starting lineup reached base.
