#ORUBase Gears Up for Weekend Set with Southern Indiana

Tulsa, Okla. – The Oral Roberts baseball team is back at home for a weekend series as they welcome the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles to Chapman Park.
 
The Golden Eagles are fresh off a mid-week win over the Illinois State Redbirds winning 5-3, a game in which they trailed 2-0. 
 
ORU is on the tail end of an eight game home stand where they have been 3-3 over said span dropping a weekend series with then No. 19 Dallas Baptist and winning against Missouri State and Illinois State.
 
Outfielder Makani Tanaka continues to lead the team in batting average at .409 with one homer and nine RBIs.  Kansas transfer Cooper Combs has taken the team lead in RBIs with 14 on the season with two homers, also tied for the team lead.
 
RHP Nathan Love has been a standout arm in the Golden Eagle pitching staff with a 4.20 ERA in 15.0 innings of work as the Saturday starter.  RHP Jared Ure has provided more of the same out of the bullpen posting a 3.18 ERA in 11.1 innings striking out nine batters to just one walk.
 
Southern Indiana (6-5) comes in on a three-game losing streak dropping two games to Bowling Green and one to Southern Illinois all played in Carbondale, Illinois.

Inside the Series:
This is the fourth ever meeting between the two programs with ORU leading the all-time series 3-0.  Their last meeting came on May 14th, 2023, the finale of a three-game series, where the Golden Eagles won 5-0.

Scouting the Opponent: 
The Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles are 6-5 on the 2025 season with wins over Alabama State, Evansville, St. Louis, and Bowling Green.
 
USI does not use the long ball offensively, hitting just two homers as a team this far.  Kannon Coakley leads the way with the bat batting .425 with six RBIs and seven doubles.  Clayton Slack leads the Screaming Eagles with nine runs driven in to go along with a .293 average at the plate. 
 
RHP Blake Kimball has been the lead arm in the rotation for USI posting a 1.45 ERA in 18.2 innings surrendering just four runs, three earned, five walks, and seven strikeouts.  Opponents are batting .164 against the Tolono, Illinois native.
 
Outside of Kimball, Southern Indiana has struggled on the bump with a team ERA of 7.26 collecting 76 strikeouts in 93.0 total innings.
