Â
GREELEY, COLO. - The Oral Roberts baseball team dropped game three against Northern Colorado in a high-scoring affair losing 18-10.
Â
Cooper Combs hit his fifth homer of the year in game three a part of a two-hit, three-RBI afternoon for the Kansas transfer.
Â
The Golden Eagles started fast yet again in the series finale in Greeley scoring twice in the top of the first off of Combs' two-run shot scoring
Will Edmunson on the big fly.
Â
In the bottom half, however, it was all Bears sending 13 to the plate scoring nine runs on nine hits which surpassed their hit total from game two. ORU was forced to go to the bullpen in the first.
Â
ORU would get one back in the top of the second as
Jack Schark scored on a throwing error to home plate cutting it to a six-run deficit.Â
Â
Northern Colorado would come back with two runs in the second and third innings however and they'd take a 13-3 lead after just three innings.Â
Â
After both offenses settled down, the ORU bats came to life in the sixth, scoring four times to bring the deficit to six, highlighted by
Martell Davis' bases-clearing double. In the seventh, the Golden Eagles got two more in on
Ethan Fender's third homer of the season, shrinking the Bear lead to four.Â
Â
However, that would be as close as the Golden Eagles would get, as the Bears took back control scoring once in the bottom of the seventh and four times in the bottom of the eighth, taking the series 18-10.
