TULSA, OKLA. – The Golden Eagle Track & Field program turned heads with their distance running performances at the ORU Invitational to start 2026 outdoor competition.
Oral Roberts dominated the men's 1500 meter, taking all three podium spots with
Abraham Chelangam taking first with a 3:52.12,
Artwell Magake in at second posting a 3:52.56, and
Sibonokuhle Thwala rounding out the top three with a 3:53.15. Other men's top 10 finishers included
Jaxson Brooks at sixth and
Kelvin Chiku in seventh.
On the women's side of the 1500-meter, more impressive performances came through as the Golden Eagles took two of the top three places.
Deborah Mazzei captured second with a time of 4:36.71, and
Ossly Murambidzi in third, boasting a 4:37.85.
Zoie Kiddy at sixth,
Madeline Cabana at eight, and Mackenzie Penner in at tenth complete the top 10.
It was more of the same for the men during the 800-meter dash as
Jaxson Brooks took home first, running a 1:52.39.
Seth Meyer and
Jonah Marvine placed third and fourth in the field. The women placed four in the top-10 in the 800 meters, with
Deborah Mazzei leading the way at second place.
Zoie Kiddy,
Hannah Vanderburg, and
Lillian Woolery also featured top-10 finishes.
The Golden Eagles will be back in competition April 10
th in Norman, Oklahoma, in the John Jacobs Invitational, hosted by the Oklahoma Sooners.
