SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Sophomore right-handed pitcher Easton Teel has earned his second consecutive Kwik Star Summit League weekly honor, his third total season, League officials announced Tuesday. Joining him is Northern Colorado outfielder Jaden Stone.
Teel picked up his third weekly honor in the past four weeks since Summit play began. For the second straight week, he threw a season-high seven scoreless innings in a 9-0 win over Omaha in the series opener.
The Choctaw, Okla., native retired 12 Mavericks in order during one stretch and did not yield a hit until the fifth inning. He finished with six strikeouts and scattered three hits as he has now logged five straight quality starts and given up just two earned runs across 27.2 innings (0.65 ERA) of conference play.
Stone's bat carried the Bears to a series win over North Dakota State as he registered multiple hits in all three contests, finishing 8-for-13 (.615) at the plate. He now leads all Summit League players with 49 hits on the season and 23 in conference play.
The Eaton, Colo., native opened the series with a two-hit outing in a 4-3 loss to the Bison but had three hits in both of the Bears' victories in games two and three as they improved to 6-8 in Summit play.
Stone also scored five runs in the series, including three during an 11-10 extra-inning triumph in game two. He scored the opening run of the game and the game-winner on Jake Bullard's RBI single in the 10th inning.
