#ORUTF's Jordan Wenger Paces Strong Weekend with High Jump Victory

FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. — Oral Roberts University Track & Field turned in a series of strong performances at the John McDonnell Invitational, highlighted by personal bests, season bests, and podium-level finishes across multiple events.

Jordan Wenger was the highlight taking home yet another high jump event win outlasting 15 other competitors and posting a height of 2.17M (7'1.5").  He beat out athletes featured from Kansas, Illinois State, Arkansas, Lamar, and Houston Christian in the event.  Wenger is till a-top TFRRS' Midwest region standings and ranks fourth nationally in the high jump.  

On the women's side, Olivia Granderson delivered a standout sprint performance, clocking a season-best 56.17 in the 400 meters. In the middle-distance events, Deborah Mazzei posted an impressive 2:10.12 in the 800 meters, marking a season-best effort and one of the top finishes for the Golden Eagles on the day.

ORU's distance group showed depth in the 1500 meters, led by Lillian Woolery (4:39.25) and Zoie Kiddy (4:39.76), with Hannah Vanderburg also contributing a solid 4:43.55. Additional depth came from Baylee Rae Woodrich and Mackenzie Penner, who added competitive times to round out the field.

In the longer distances, Hannah Claytor (11:31.75) and Morgan Lawrence (11:40.96) represented ORU well in the 3000 meters, each turning in strong efforts against a competitive field.

Field events also proved fruitful for the Golden Eagles, as Destiny Downing cleared 1.75 meters (5-8¾) in the high jump to secure a second-place finish and a personal best.

Other notable performances included personal bests from Ashley McCutchen in the 800 meters (2:25.55) and continued sprint contributions from Kallista Frye and Sydney Smith.  Sibonokhule Thwala placed top 10 in the men's 800 M race (1:50.27), while Ishmael Acheampong placed 18th (1:51.73), and Jonah Marvine placed 26th, running a personal best and improving his time by two seconds. (1:52.98).  

Overall, the Golden Eagles showcased progress and depth, building momentum as the outdoor season continues.
