Ninth-Inning Rally by Oklahoma State Sinks ORU, 6-5

STILLWATER, OK€"Corey Brown's two-out, two-strike, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth gave Oklahoma State a 6-5 win over Oral Roberts University, Tuesday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.

Leading 5-4, ORU's Daniel Greenwalt ( LaHabra, Calif.) walked the first two batters in the bottom of the ninth. Rusty Ryal grounded into a fielder's choice for the first out and Greenwalt struck out Keanan Simon for the second out. Greenwalt (5-2) worked the count to 1-2 on Brown before the Cowboys' rightfielder lined a double over Travis DeBondt (Bakersfield, Calif.) in left field, scoring Chris Guitierrez and Ryal to win the game.

ORU (30-17) led 4-0 after three-and-half innings. DeBondt knocked in a run with a bases loaded ground out in the second for a 1-0 lead, and Michael Hollimon (Dallas, Texas) led off the third inning with a solo home run €" his team-leading ninth €" for a 2-0 lead.

Dennis Bigley (Lancaster, Texas) knocked a two-out RBI double in the fourth and Brian Aguailar (Lompoc, Calif.) plated Bigley with a single for a 4-0 lead.

But the Cowboys (31-18) responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, two of which were unearned. Simon reached on a lead-off error by first baseman Rene Recio (Corpus Christi, Texas) and Brown followed with a two-run homer off ORU starter Tim Robertson (Huntington Beach, Calif.) to make it a 4-2 game.

After a fly out and strikeout, Robertson gave up back-to-back doubles to Jeff Parrish and Ty Wright as OSU closed the gap to 4-3.

The Cowboys tied it at 4-4 in the bottom of the fifth off reliever Dane Towery (Mustang, Okla.) on an RBI single by Simon.

The Golden Eagles took the lead in the top of the eighth. Hollimon led off with a single, moved to second on a grounder by Kelly Minissale (Murphy, Texas) and scored on Jon Tackett's (Tulsa, Okla.) double, extending his hitting streak to 10 games and giving ORU a 5-4 lead.

Blake Kronkosky (2-1) picked up the win for OSU, tossing a scoreless top of the ninth.

Hollimon led ORU at the plate, going 3-for-4. He was the only Golden Eagle with more than one hit.

The Golden Eagles return to action when they visit Western Illinois for a four-game Mid-Continent Conference series, beginning with a 12 noon doubleheader on Saturday.
